Established 1998

The Lightning Athletic Program is a member of the Florida High School Athletic Association and the Greater Miami Athletic Conference. Lightning Athletics offers students the opportunity to compete in 15 different sports with a total of 32 teams competing at the Varsity and Junior Varsity level. We currently field 15 girls teams and 17 boys teams, servicing approximately 500 student-athletes per year.

Lightning Athletics has established a history of success, winning 9 State Championships and a multitude of district and GMAC Championships in its 15 years. Additionally, individual student-athletes have collected accolades such as Miami-Dade Athlete of the Year, Player of the Year in their respective sports, and All-American honors. Most recently we were honored with the Miami-Dade Coach of the Year (2012) and two Co-Player of the Year awards in our tennis program (2013). Our tennis standouts also collected All-American honors as well as one being crowned as the overall State Champion in 2013. In 2013 alone, 17 of our teams qualified for and competed in the district tournament with 5 of those teams being represented at the State Championship for their respective sport.

Congratulations to our boys’ and girls’ tennis teams for capturing their 15th straight District Championship. They will host the region tournament next week.

Congratulations to our softball team for making school history! With their win over Sunset, they became the first softball team in Krop history to finish the regular season undefeated!
